About the Project

The goal of the project is to verify proof-of-visit and a proof-of-route for tracking professionals on duty. I designed a human activity engine that leveraged Wifi access points and smartphone IMU sensors. This works on two levels. At the macro level, Wifi geofencing can be great, providing anchor points with high confidence. At the micro-level, IMU data can be used to get an idea of the user’s step count, stride length, and heading direction. Overall, the two modules helped each other improve the accuracy of the entire system. Later I also integrated a gait-based authentication module into our system for fraud detection. This system is currently running at SUTD to monitor patrolling duties of security guards.
